What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

WE BELIEVE in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  That means that we have totally surrendered to Christ and His teachings found in His Holy Word. We believe God’s Holy Word is God’s central teaching and it is sufficient for all things in the matter of faith and practice.  We believe that the Word of God is inspired by God and given to us by God to discover God’s creation, the fall of humankind, and God’s plan of redemption.

WE BELIEVE in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, and recognize God’s existence in three persons.

WE BELIEVE that God is the creator and sustain-er of all things and believe that God is completely and totally sovereign.

WE BELIEVE in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, to be our Lord and Savior who endured the cross on our behalf and conquered the grave.  Jesus paid the debt required by God for the penalty of sin that we could not pay.  He willingly went to the cross on our behalf so that our sins could be forgiven and we could gain access to God.  We believe that by repentance, and faith in Christ, and the finished work of the cross we can have our sins atoned for the condemnation of sin removed.  By faith we can be set free from the bondage of sin and made a new creation in Christ.

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit is given to each Christian so that each can be equipped to live a life of love and witness to our faith.  We believe in a personal Pentecost experience and seek that all be filled with the Holy Spirit.  We believe in John Wesley’s teaching on Grace that reflects God’s Word.  We believe in Prevenient Grace, Justifying Grace, Sanctifying Grace, and Glorifying Grace. We believe that we are saved by Grace and we do not limit God to just that initial work of Grace, but recognize all the possibilities of grace.  We believe in the fruit of the Spirit, the Gifts of the Spirit, and the move of the Spirit.  We also believe that the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives is reflected in the way we love and serve others.

WE BELIEVE that the church was established by God and is empowered by God to do the work of God.  We believe that the church is the place where Christians are equipped to do the ministry of the church.  We believe that the church is God’s way and plan to reach the world with the Gospel and bring believers to maturity in their faith.  We believe that the church is the people of God who gather to support one another, pray for one another, and encourage one another in the respected ministry.  We also believe that the church exists as a group of people who nurture their flock, minister to the poor, and go into all the world to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
